Psoriasis Treatment

Category: PsoriasisAnders Eriksson @ 1:28 am

Psoriasis is a little known disorder that can greatly affect the lives of people suffering from it. Although far from being life threatening, psoriasis can have more of an affect on the quality of life of the person. Effective treatment depends on how affected the person with psoriasis is.

Common Treatment
The main characteristic symptom of psoriasis is the sudden growth of red, scaly and inflamed patches of skin anywhere on the body. Treating this abnormal skin growth is the primary treatment for the disease. But there are other features of the disease that may also affect a person psychologically.

The most common treatment for psoriasis is the application of topical ointments and creams that can help minimize the spread of the unsightly scaly skin patches associated with the disease. Topical applications usually become effective during the initial phases of psoriasis. The skin growth usually reacts positively to ointments and creams and may disappear after some time.

Secondary Treatment
There are times when recurring psoriasis starts to build a specific resistance to previous treatments after a while. When the topical treatment no longer provides the desired results, doctors venture into secondary forms of treatment. This type of treatment usually involves exposing the skin to ultraviolet radiation. This form of treatment is more commonly known as phototherapy.

Hopefully the information presented so far has been applicable. You might also want to consider the following:

After awhile, even phototherapy fails to provide the desired effect. This is when doctors resort to using the systemic treatment approach. This type of treatment involves the use of certain medications usually taken internally by pill or by injections. There are times when antibiotics are employed as treatment for psoriasis growths. But this is only used when the psoriasis outbreak is a direct cause of a bacterial infection, such as when a person is suffering from a strep throat infection. Some infections caused by the Streptococcus bacteria can also lead to an outbreak of psoriasis in some people.

Rotation Treatment
Because psoriasis can become resistant to treatments over time, many doctors usually offer the various treatment options in rotation. This is done in order to avoid certain people from developing a resistance to the treatments that will make the disease harder to treat over time. Most doctors do not rely mainly on a single treatment but rather make use of a combination of different treatments for psoriasis.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy
People who suffer from psoriasis not only suffer from the physical effects of the disease. Some people may also be greatly affected by the disease psychologically. Some of the scaly skin patches associated with psoriasis can grow to become unsightly. It can easily make some people feel embarrassed about their condition and may start to feel insecure about themselves. Cognitive behavior therapy is usually employed along with the traditional treatments of the disease as a means to help people cope up with the psychological stress as well as the disability usually brought about by psoriasis.

Effective treatments for psoriasis usually depend on the diagnosis of the doctors. There is no single treatment that can work effectively for all people suffering from psoriasis. As there can be different triggers and causes of the disorder, doctors might need to evaluate and assess each case before providing the best means of treatment.

Hopefully the sections above have contributed to your understanding of Psoriasis. Share your new understanding about Psoriasis with others. They’ll thank you for it.

What Is Psoriasis?

Category: PsoriasisAnders Eriksson @ 8:29 am

When you’re learning about something new, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of relevant information available. This informative article should help you focus on the central points.

Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease that is characterized by red scaly patches suddenly appearing on certain parts of the skin. The appearance of these patches seems to come suddenly without any warning. This is due to the excessive production of skin cells by the body.

Psoriasis Causes
The underlying cause of psoriasis remains unknown to doctors and medical experts. But most experts believe that the disorder may have a genetic component to it. Some put the cause as something that the immune system is doing to the body. The reason for this is that doctors have widely observed psoriasis plaques, the red scaly patches growing on the skin, to have cleared while administering immune suppressing drugs.

Some experts believe that the overproduction of skin cells as triggered by psoriasis is brought about by T cells which normally protect the body against infection. By some reason, the T cells invade the dermis and cause the overproduction of skin cells, bringing about psoriasis plaques to appear on the various skin areas. What remains unknown to medical experts is what triggers the T cells of the body to initiate this action.

Another possible reason why psoriasis plaques appear is that it is simply a product of a disorder that causes the skin cells to overproduce and promote excessive skin growth. The primary fault, according to some experts lies in the epidermis and its keratinocytes. Psoriasis is still a very peculiar disease in that it seems to appear just as suddenly as it stops. There can sometimes no be apparent reason why this disease seem to worsen or improve during its course.

Psoriasis Triggers
Despite the relatively unknown cause of the disease, experts have determined some instances where psoriasis may be triggered and suddenly appear on the skin. Excessive stress is known to trigger the appearance of psoriasis plaques in some people. It can also be triggered in some by excessive drinking and smoking.

So far, we’ve uncovered some interesting facts about Psoriasis. You may decide that the following information is even more interesting.

Psoriasis Types
There are different types of psoriasis that are determined based by the symptoms that they show. The most common form of the disease is called plaque psoriasis which is characterized by raised patches of inflamed skin that is covered by white scaly and dry skin. This is the type of psoriasis that affects around 80 or 90 percent of people.

Flexural psoriasis is another type of the disease but is known for having inflamed but smooth patches of skin. This usually is located in skin folds, more particularly around the genitals, the armpits and the skin folds usually seen in the stomachs of obese people.

Guttate psoriasis is another type of the disease characterized this time by several small round red spots on the skin. Several of these spots usually appear over large areas of the body particularly in the scalp, limbs and the trunk. Guttate psoriasis is usually associated with a strep throat infection.

Pustular psoriasis is another manifestation of the disease that appears as red bumps on the skin that are filled by pus. The skin surrounding the pus filled bumps are usually red and tender. Postural psoriasis can appear in a localized area of the skin, commonly on the hands and feet. They can also appear as widespread patches all over the body.

Nail psoriasis is another type of the disorder that generally appears under the fingernails or toenails. They are characterized by the discoloration of the nail edges, lines gong across the nails, the pitting of the nails, thickening of the skin under the nail or the nail becoming loose and fragile.

So now you know a little bit about Psoriasis. Even if you don’t know everything, you’ve done something worthwhile: you’ve expanded your knowledge.

An Overview of the Different Kinds of Psoriasis

Category: PsoriasisAnders Eriksson @ 7:26 am

The following article presents the very latest information on Psoriasis. If you have a particular interest in Psoriasis, then this informative article is required reading.

Psoriasis is a chronic condition characterized by reddening and thickening of the skin. It affects 1% to 3% of the entire population. Here we will look at the five different types of psoriasis.

Plaque Psoriasis

This is the most common form of psoriasis. It is usually characterized by thickening and flaking of the skin on several areas of the body. In some instances, the patches cover a large portion of the body. Although they can wax or wane, they have the tendency to be chronic.

This condition can take place in any area of the body. The most prone areas include the elbows, knees, knuckles, scalp, trunk, arms, legs, and external sex organs. Although not always itchy, it can lead to inflammation when scratched. This is called the Koebner Phenomenon.

Guttate Psoriasis

This is most common in children and young adults. They manifest themselves as small reddish bumps on the skin. Their appearance is sudden and last for several weeks after an infection.

If triggered by infections, antibiotics can be helpful in treating the guttate type of this condition. It usually responds to treatment and may gradually disappear by itself. If you have suffered from this condition, another episode is unlikely for years to come. In adults, the manifestation of small droplike bumps may mean that the disease is flaring up.

Specialized Types of Psoriasis

See how much you can learn about Psoriasis when you take a little time to read a well-researched article? Don’t miss out on the rest of this great information.

Seborrheic psoriasis is a condition affecting scalp. It is similar to severe dandruff. Thickening and flaking of the skin may protrude to the forehead just below the hairline. Scaling can become prevalent in the outer ear.

Psoriasis can also affect the connecting tissues of the nails. Pitting is an early manifestation of nail psoriasis, which can also take place in other diseases. Nail psoriasis involves the presence of dark spots similar to droplets of oil which can lead to flaking of the skin below the nails.
Palmoplantar psoriasis takes place in the palms of the hands as well as soles of the feet. Severe cases of this type can lead to disability.

Pustular psoriasis affects the palms and soles. It is characterized by small, deep pus-filled blisters as well as copper-colored hue with a shade of red, flaky skin. It is similar to acropustulosis or palmoplantar pustulosis.

Other Varieties

Erythroderma is a condition characterized by reddening, flaking, and thickening of the skin in most parts of the body. Erythrodermic psoriasis takes place when a person has a history of plaque psoriasis. It can also be a result of widespread eczema, skin reaction to drugs, or cutaneous lymphoma. It may be accompanied by fevers and chills and requires treatment in a hospital.

Pustular psoriasis is a rare and severe kind of the condition characterized by the formation of small, pus-filled blisters on the skin. It may require treatment in the hospital as patients fall ill from fevers and chills. Aside from that, it may require special therapies because traditional treatment approaches can easily irritate their skin. It can lead to disability when the condition extends to the palms and soles.

Inverse or flexural psoriasis usually affects the area of the body where there is skin folding such as the armpits, groin, and webs of the toes. It is often whitish in color and usually soft like a fungal infection.

Understanding the various kinds of psoriasis can be helpful in determining the method of treatment that will be used.

What Causes Psoriasis?

Category: PsoriasisAnders Eriksson @ 4:47 pm

When you think about Psoriasis, what do you think of first? Which aspects of Psoriasis are important, which are essential, and which ones can you take or leave? You be the judge.

Psoriasis is one of the illnesses that have been bothering mankind since time immemorial. This skin disorder is estimated to be affecting about 3% of the current global population. It is affecting young adults, old citizens, and even unborn infants. While many psoriasis patients develop the condition later on in their lives, in numerous cases, patients have the disorder all their lives. What causes psoriasis?

It is not surprising that the skin disorder is definitely one of the most misunderstood skin conditions. While in the Biblical times, the condition has been believed to be a milder variety of leprosy, Greeks knew it was different. They even coined a specific term for psoriasis??lepra,? meaning ?scaly skin condition.? However, no significant effort in the past had been identified to explain what really causes psoriasis. To date, there are three identified possible causes of the condition, namely, genetics, the immune system, and environmental factors.

Genetic causes

For quite some time, it has been believed that psoriasis is hereditary in nature. Thus, it could only be passed through heredity, and not through skin contact. This is the reason why the skin disorder is not communicable or infectious in any way.

Several research efforts have found that there are actually nine genetic mutations that possibly lead to the onset of psoriasis. Included in those mutations is the one called PSORS-1 on chromosome 6. This is scientifically identified as the most likely genetic cause of the skin condition. This type of mutation is identified as affecting skin cells production in specific parts of the body.

If your Psoriasis facts are out-of-date, how will that affect your actions and decisions? Make certain you don’t let important Psoriasis information slip by you.

The immune system

You know that the immune system is responsible for protecting the human body against microorganisms that cause diseases. In its normal function, the immune system produces white blood cells that create antibodies, which in turn combat viruses and bacteria. When special types of white blood cells, called T-cells, are produced more than normal, psoriasis occurs.

Such T-cells attack and invade skin cells. In the process, the natural skin cells are forced to multiply in an abnormally rapid rate that they stack up on skin surface. Normal skin cells are then formed. Those cells mature and slough off at least on the average of 30 days. In the case of plaque psoriasis, formation of skin patches, the skin is subjected to the entire process in just 3 to 6 days.

A proof that psoriasis is caused by an abnormal function of the immune system is the observation that immune-suppressing treatments could effectively clear the skin disorder. In the end, genetic factors are still believed to trigger immune abnormalities that lead to psoriasis formation.

Environmental causes

Believe it or not, several researches are pointing to the possibility that there are environmental triggers for the disorder. In general, it is believed that environmental factors prompt formation of psoriasis in persons who has gene mutations (mentioned above) and genetic factors. Weather, stress, skin injury, infection, and lack of vitamins are believed to lead to manifestation of the condition.

No matter what causes psoriasis, experts assert that the condition should not be taken as a curse. There are now treatments available to overcome the condition. It would also help to understand that it is not communicable. Thus, there is no need to isolate or ostracize people who are apparently affected by the disorder.

Types of Psoriasis

Category: PsoriasisAnders Eriksson @ 7:58 am

Psoriasis is one of the oldest identified skin disorders. Even the Greek civilizations and the Bible identified the condition. In the past, the skin disease had been regarded as an abnormality. These days, sufferers are more fortunate because more people understand the disorder very well. There are many types of psoriasis identified, and it could be important differentiating each one from the other.

There are about seven psoriasis types that are described and discussed in most books and studies. There may be other types, but they still have to be identified, discovered, or studied about. For now, it would help if you would be acquainted or be familiar with the common types of psoriasis.

Plaque psoriasis ? This is undoubtedly the most common among all forms of psoriasis. This type is affecting an estimated 80% to 90% of sufferers worldwide. Plaque psoriasis is characterized by the formation of raised, reddish, and scaly skin areas with apparent inflammation. There are also traces of silvery white scales in the affected skin. Such scaly skin parts are often referred to as plaques.

Psoriatic arthritis ? Many people are confused about psoriatic arthritis. Is it a skin disorder or a joint disorder? This type of psoriasis basically involves inflammation of connective tissue and joints. This specific condition could very well affect joint of any kind. The most common affected joints are those found in toes and fingers. The onset of psoriatic arthritis could lead to swelling of sausage-shaped toes and fingers. The condition is also referred to as dactylitis. Moreover, psoriatic arthritis could very well affect the knees, the hips, and most particularly, the spine. It is estimated that around 10% to 15% of psoriasis sufferers also suffer from psoriatic arthritis.

Inverse psoriasis ? Flexural psoriasis generally looks like smooth but inflamed skin patches. This type usually occurs in the folds of the skin, specifically at the armpits, under the breasts, under the stomach of an obese person, and around the genitals. Take note that this psoriasis type is highly vulnerable to different fungal infections and is aggravated by sweat and friction.

The information about Psoriasis presented here will do one of two things: either it will reinforce what you know about Psoriasis or it will teach you something new. Both are good outcomes.

Pustular psoriasis ? This type is often described as raised bumps filled with pus or pustules. The surrounding skin appears tender and reddish. This kind could be localized (appearing in hands or feet) or generalized (appearing in any body part).

Guttate psoriasis ? There are countless small round sports. Those spots almost always appear in several larger skin parts like the scalp, the limbs, and the trunk. In many cases, guttate psoriasis is linked with infections caused by streptococcus, which causes throat infection and tonsillitis.

Nail psoriasis ? One characteristic of psoriasis is that it could be unreadable and unconventional. Aside from the skin and scalp, it could also manifest in finger and toe nails. Nail psoriasis facilitate several changes in the overall appearance of nails. Such changes include discoloration seen under the plate of a nail, lines across nails, pitting, crumbling of nails, loosening, and thickening of skin under nails.

Erythrodermic psoriasis ? This psoriasis type involves widespread exfoliation and inflammation of skin over most surface of the body. The condition may also bring about swelling, pain, and severe itching. This is the fatal form of psoriasis because extreme exfoliation and inflammation could possibly disrupt anyone?s ability to regulate body temperature and to benefit from barrier functions of the skin.

There’s no doubt that the topic of Psoriasis can be fascinating. If you still have unanswered questions about Psoriasis, you may find what you’re looking for in the next article.

Sunlight as a Psoriasis Treatment

Category: PsoriasisAnders Eriksson @ 8:17 pm

If you have always been looking for an effective psoriasis treatment, you should not look for expensive medications and painful procedures. You might be surprised but you could get a treatment for the disorder for free. To make matters better, you could also have fun while getting a treatment. This is because sunlight has been observed to facilitate natural treatment for the skin condition.

Many psoriasis sufferers complain that flare ups occur more often and in severe forms during winter. More interestingly, when exposed to direct sunlight, psoriasis rashes tend to improve, if not totally go away. This leads many researchers to take a closer look at the potential of sunlight as a psoriasis treatment.

The most significant study that provides credence to such assertions is the one conducted involving 20 Swedish nationals with an average age of 47 years old (everyone a psoriasis sufferer). The subjects were brought to a three-week outing/vacation in Gran Canaria. At the end of the break, most of the subjects reported improved conditions or elimination of flare ups.
Have you ever wondered why you feel refreshed after a vacation at the beach or at places with sunnier climates? The reason could be the same reason why psoriasis sufferers experience relief and improvement in conditions when exposed to enough volume of direct sunlight. There really is what is called as healthy tan.

Playing a key role to the promising element of sunlight to treat psoriasis is Vitamin D, which you know could be directly taken from the sunlight. The vitamin is actually manufactured by the skin as a response to exposure to sunshine. It is the reason why for many years, the vitamin has been promoted as an important factor for skin health. The common experience of psoriasis sufferers when exposed to direct sunlight could be among the many indirect evidences of sun rays? effectiveness in bringing about skin health.

Knowledge can give you a real advantage. To make sure you’re fully informed about Psoriasis, keep reading.

In general, the skin condition is characterized by red, scaly, and usually raised skin (called plaques). These characteristics are often exhibited in the skin covering the elbows, the knees, and the scalp. Researchers look at the theory that the condition may be due to excessive proliferation of outer skin cells, also called keratinocytes.

Vitamin D has the ability to regulate genes in keratinocytes. Thus, the vitamin logically might play an important role in regulation of excessive production in the skin of such cells. This reason is also logically behind the use of the vitamin in treating psoriasis. You could always try this out. Like most psoriasis sufferers, you might experience an improvement in flare ups if you would expose the affected skin part to direct sunlight for a few minutes or even hours.

It has also been found that sunlight could bring about positive changes or improvements to the biochemistry of sufferers. The exposure could also lead to improvements in blood sugar and blood fat levels. In this way, exposure to sunlight could be physical and systemic treatment at the same time.
If you are really in dire need of a psoriasis treatment, there is no excuse why you should not or could not try out exposure to sunlight.

This is free, convenient, and proven effective. Vitamin D is also basically good for the body and for the overall health of the skin.

It never hurts to be well-informed with the latest on Psoriasis. Compare what you’ve learned here to future articles so that you can stay alert to changes in the area of Psoriasis.

Overview of Usual Psoriasis Treatments

Category: PsoriasisAnders Eriksson @ 8:34 pm

Nobody wants to have psoriasis. But you could not help developing it, if it runs in your family. The only consolation you may have is that the skin disorder currently has more options for treatment compared to all other skin diseases. Treatment could be applied externally or internally, depending on your choice and the need of your body. Physical treatments are also not ruled out. Whatever psoriasis treatment you choose, you could expect to get relief and freedom from the disease.

Because there are just too many psoriasis treatments available, you may have a hard or long time determining which works best. The ideal thing to do is to conduct a trial and error. The logistics could be daunting at most times. But you surely could expect drastic clearing of the skin with correct application or intake of treatment over time.

Topical treatments for psoriasis

When you say topical, it means applied externally or to the surface of the affected skin area. Topical treatments include ointments, oils, creams, foams, lotions, and tapes. Such preparations could be bought by prescription or over-the-counter. In this regard, treating any part of the body affected by the disorder is possible.

In general, topical treatments for psoriasis are recommended to sufferers whose psoriasis is affecting less than 10% of the entire skin all over the body. If psoriasis is more severe, if it affects more than 10% of the skin, or if topical medications falter, systemic treatments are advised. Topical treatments may be daunting to some, particularly because many lotions and creams tend to be sticky and messy.

Systemic treatments for psoriasis

So far, we’ve uncovered some interesting facts about Psoriasis. You may decide that the following information is even more interesting.

Systemic treatments are generally medications that are not only aimed at treating psoriasis. Usually, they are medications that also treat other conditions all throughout the body. Who would not want to get one shot as treatment to all pain, diseases, and unlikely conditions in the body? In the case of this skin disorder, systemic treatments include injections and pills.

The now popular injectable biologics are systemic treatments for psoriasis. Though still new in the market, demand for such a medication is very high because it has been identified to curtail moderate to severe types of the skin condition. Even with just two injections in a month, psoriasis sufferers could be effectively disease-free. What?s more? Such injections could be administered right at the comfort of home. However, like all other medications, injection biologics are not without a few side-effects. Constant and regular monitoring by a physician is required.

Physical treatments

As mentioned, there are physical treatments available. Phototherapy is most effective as a physical treatment. The procedure involved ultraviolet light. Artificial light is often utilized to facilitate this treatment. There is a procedure wherein a sun-sensitizing pill is ingested first before exposure to special light. Newer light treatments are available.

Heliotherapy is becoming popular because it uses natural sunlight as a good light source of ultraviolet radiation. Logically, ultraviolet rays are good in treating and controlling psoriasis flares. It is not surprising that it is used to bring about treatment. However, take note that light treatment is not advisable and not appropriate for all sufferers.

You could choose any psoriasis treatment from the abovementioned treatments. When undergoing medications, just like in other diseases, it is important to do procedures properly, on time, and as prescribed. Otherwise, the effort and the costs would only drain to futility.

Several Home Remedies for Psoriasis

Category: PsoriasisAnders Eriksson @ 1:05 pm

Psoriasis is one of the most popular skin disorders. Not too many people may have it, but almost all people are scared of having it. There is too much discomfort, plus the fact that it could be embarrassing because of its reddish and scaly appearance. For so many years, sufferers have had to live by the truth that no regulatory approved treatment was available.

There are some home remedies that have been known to relieve and treat psoriasis, particularly flare ups. Most of these remedies need not special ingredients. Some are helpful and healthy activities that any sufferer could always perform at the comfort of home.

Exercise

Tai Chi, swimming, and cycling have been identified as recommended exercises or physical activities to treat psoriasis. Such actions help bring about necessary improvements to strength and overall blood circulation. They are also beneficial for joint inflammation because they are non-impacting and are gentle to the joints. Tai Chi is said to be the most effective of the three because it literally encompasses range of motion and stretching.

Water therapy

By this, it means water applied to or poured over the affected skin areas. Specifically, water combined with sea salt is most beneficial. The solution has therapeutic effects especially to skin disorders like psoriasis. This is the main reason why water and sea salt solutions are carried out and offered at holistic, ayurvedic, and spa centers. In particular, many dermatologists recommend Bokek Dead Sea salt bath for sufferers. Sea salt is believed to have cleansing properties that not only clean pores but also help detoxify the human body. Therapeutic bath salts could also be used on daily and weekly basis as home treatment for psoriasis.

Splints

If your Psoriasis facts are out-of-date, how will that affect your actions and decisions? Make certain you don’t let important Psoriasis information slip by you.

For psoriatic arthritis, splints are most recommended as a form of home remedy. That is because this is facilitating great support for the natural joint position. However, be reminded that it might not help being fully reliant on splints. Exercises are still better for improving joint psoriasis.

Scale removal

Removing excess dead skin on a daily basis could be a highly useful prevention against excessive build up of skin. Scales are dead skin cells that accumulate over time. If not removed, scaling could proceed to formation of deep and large platelets that could cause further pain and discomfort. To remove excess dead skin, application of salicylic acid could be used. Salicylic acid is a naturally softening agent that is widely available without prescriptions. A solution made up of skin lotion and virgin olive oil could also do the trick.

Elimination of stress

Several studies associate psoriasis and flare ups with high levels of stress. The appearance of lesions and scales may further add up to the stress and depression, making the condition worse. Positive thinking could be a good help in efforts to curtail psoriasis.

Diet and climate

While some sufferers believe that there are specific foods that prompt or trigger flare ups, no scientific evidence could support such notions. That is why until today, psoriasis is not in any way related to any dietary problem. However, psoriasis flare ups are more severe and are often during winter season. Some studies have found that direct exposure to sunlight could help control and improve conditions.

Thus, warmer and sunnier climates are logically better and more advisable for psoriasis sufferers.

This article’s coverage of the information is as complete as it can be today. But you should always leave open the possibility that future research could uncover new facts.

History Of Psoriasis

Category: PsoriasisAnders Eriksson @ 8:19 am

When most people think of Psoriasis, what comes to mind is usually basic information that’s not particularly interesting or beneficial. But there’s a lot more to Psoriasis than just the basics.

Probably one of the longest known illnesses of humans is Psoriasis. Psoriasis became the ugliest disease for every human that they experience. Either you are king, members of the royal family, a politician, a businessman or such an ordinary individual you are not safe in psoriasis. Scholars believe that the tzaraat disease mention in the Bible is likely the same with psoriasis. It was first introduced by Hippocrates (Greek Physician between 460 and 377 BC) but no formal introduction that time until in the first century that Cornelius Celsus (Roman author) described it as a condition that caused by staphylococcus pyogenes of red patches with watery blisters on the skin.

During the time of Hippocrates, a psoriasis disease had different names such as lepra, psora, alphos and leichen. And Psoriasis became part of the medicinal literature after Joseph Jacob Plenck of Vienna in 1776 as scaly or scale like diseases. Plenck doesn?t compared the Psoriasis from other skin diseases discovered until Robert Willan (1757-1812), an English dermatologist together with Thomas Bateman recognized this disease as an independent. They divided it into two categories: (1) Leprosa Graecorum, as the condition when the skin had scales; and (2) Psora Leprosa, as the condition when it became eruptive.

In 1841, Ferdinand von Hebra (Viennese dermatologist) as he was working with Willan?s notes, he ascribed the name ?psoriasis? from the Greek word ?psora? or ?to itch? in the English dictionary, he?s also the one who described the clinical picture of psoriasis that our dermatologist are using today.

Until in the 20th century differentiated into more specific types such as plaque psoriasis, guttate psoriasis, pustular psoriasis, inverse psoriasis, erythrodermic psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, seborrheic psoriasis, nail psoriasis, and scalp psoriasis.

Psoriasis is an unrelieved constant condition. Psoriasis varies in harshness established among adults. Psoriasis can sort from being an annoyance to a devastating skin chaos, predominantly when it?s connected with arthritis.
